The wet camp dawned still rather moist but at least it didn’t rain and the clever idea of pitching the tent at the edge of the tar road worked out nicely as we had a nice surface to sort things out. The pants, leggings and shoes had to dry on the mast but further everything worked out well. The meanies took us on a circuitous route with many ups and downs just to show us some vineyards and some views of the river from way up high but at least we got to see this lovely chateau from close up.
For some reason this lady caught my attention
Not far from there we chose our lunchspot with an eagle eye’s view of the surrounds, doing it the French way, a baguette with some filling and munch away.
The next attraction were the caves in which the people have carved out caves to live in. We visited a sculptor who had made his studio in one of these, his work was outstanding. It got a bit tricky after that because the track offered various options and detours and we chose to stay as close to the Loire as possible. This meant that we could stretch our legs for a bit and add some kilometers before stocking up and having the usual hassle finding a camp. The one we ended up at didn’t seem to expect any customers, they seemed a bit surprised but in the end they gave us the key to their cabin for shower etc. and left us alone in charge of an empty camping and during our excellent supper we actually had another two customers pitch up.
