Gennes – 38

Well, we had to leave our camping next to the Loire without paying as no-one pitched up to collect our fees. Said goodbye to the only two other campers there, an unfriendly young couple and on our way to follow the well-marked route and of course the meandering Loire

Saw this nice proof that they also got handymen in France

As we didn’t want to miss out on the local culture we decided to make a detour into the quite large city of Angers and even though it has some nice buildings we were not overly impressed. That may have also been caused by the inclement weather, it started raining on and off and it made it difficult to find our way around in the heavy traffic. For lunch we ended up in the park which was small but very well maintained and dotted with sculptures

I invited her to my tent for the evening but she was attached.

As we made our way out of town again we came past this old slate mine

The path wound through forests until it was blocked by a small tributary which meant the choice between a 5 km detour or using a small boat so that was an easy choice

Great fun, then nit was time for supplies, while waiting for Ellie I got chatting to another cycling couple, they are doing the trip from the Atlantic back to their home town in Lichtenstein, very interesting to see how they were going about things.

Whilst chatting the weather deteriorated again and the search for a camping and the subsequent setting up of camp was rather unpleasant in the pouring rain and my sense of humor left somewhat to be desired according to my companion.
