The granite top saga

Halleluja, at long last the kitchen got a step further with the installation of the counter tops. Edwil and his two assistants arrived at 10 and soon the driveway turned into a workshop to cut the holes for the sink and the hob. The four weighty slabs were carried up and laid out on top of the cupboards. Edwil then got called away and we had a chance to inspect and noticed to our horror that the level was quite a bit out, all because the bases of the cupboards had not been levelled correctly in the first place. On his return we decided on a compromise and packed the one end so the entire top now has an ever so slight slant but at least is even.

After the epoxy and the silicone this is the result

Of course no sooner were they gone and I wired up the hob and all ready for cooking! Next step is the doors and for me hacking the tiles off the walls.

With all that we still managed our ride this morning, reasonably cool today and, thanks to Ellie in the lead on the way out, did our highest average speed ever even though I suffered from a lack of energy due to not eating supper last night.
