Guenroucet – 34

It was still 30 kms to our intended goal of the canal of Brest to Nantes, a mere hop and a skip, so we set out in good spirits having recovered from yesterdays efforts. It is silly of course but I can now understand why the professional riders warm up on a stationary bike before setting off, it takes at least 5 kms before the body gets used to pedaling again.

The countryside was very scenic one again, lots of trees and greenery.

We saw some nice foxgloves on our way as well

We are still pleasantly surprised at all the wild flowers growing in the fields, at the edges of the forest and in the road reserves. Not to forget all the roundabouts and other parks in the towns.

In Redon we got to information really quickly and this lady deserves her picture being shown, another gem who got us all the information we needed about the cycling track along the canal and, what’s more, also about the Loire Valley.

We then had a look around in town and, apart from lots of pretty girls from the music schools and an interesting church there wasn’t much to be seen so we had lunch along the river and then set out in search of the path. After a bit of to-ing and fro-ing we at last discovered that it started right there where we had had lunch.

Suddenly we were in a different world, from the pushing of the last few days and the heavy traffic we were now on this quiet path along the tranquil canal.

In good time we found our camp, right along the river, cycled to the top of the hill to get supplies and coasted all the way back to camp to enjoy the fruits of our labour.

Now see if this promised wifi works….
