Thunersee

Thursday, 15 July 2010

Unfortunately our six-day train pass has run out so the Jungfrau rail trips are a thing of the past. We needed a rest anyway so we decided to take a stroll along the Thunersee. It still turned out to be a fairly long walk along forest paths but with a long rest for lunch and a bus for some of the way back it was quite nice.

There is a ferry service on the lake which is quite popular but we followed the forest path. It had rained during the night, still quite hot though. Along the path we had very good views of the lake.

Our lunchspot reminded us a lot of the Kouga river in the Baviaanskloof, rock a bit more round perhaps but the same ambiance and we enjoyed our sarmis on the rocks.

Near Beatenbuch we came across a lovely wooden bridge, very elaborate, the Swiss tend to overdesign their woodwork a little.

Back on the road I revolted and refused to walk all the way back so we took a bus which dropped us off near the shops so we could do our daily shopping. One last glimpse at the Thunersee though.
