Orleans -43

The rest day started off very well with a sumptuous breakfast served by our French lady starting of with a large piece of Italian cake! We then retreated to our room for a while to make use of the free wifi to Skype some family and get updated on world events (we haven’t missed much). This was just as well because just then we hade a huge downpour.

Then off to see the sights, what a difference to ride bicycles without panniers. First stop the very impressive cathedral, a mass had just started so we joined for a while until we realised it was a confirmation service and would be rather lengthy.

By pure chance we then joined a cycle tour, we think it had something to do with promoting Orleans, 16 kilometers on our restday taking us past all sorts of interesting sites of the city accompanied by hundreds of locals.

As part of the tour we got taken inside all sorts of buildings, including this chateaux with most amazing carvings, not quite our taste but still…

We lasted till quarter past two and then hunger took over and we went back to center of town for a well deserved pizza, we were too late for mussels 🙁

Back to room to work out tomorrows route, promises to be a challenge, like they say in afrikaans: kyk noord, f*k voort.
