Treguennec – 30

Monday, 24 May, 2010

The hottest day so far even though we found that yesterday felt hotter, perhaps it is the change from last week we are getting used to. Yesterday I was silly enough to cycle the whole day in a sleeveless shirt so guess what was previously not exposed to the sun and now got burnt to a crisp.

It was the Monday after Pentacost and France being a staunchly catholic nation (when it suits them) it is a public holiday with most shops being closed so we had a bit of trouble securing food for the evening but eventually we managed. We are getting a little enough of the hills of Brittany and we have decided to give some of the coast a miss, after all, you can’t see everything, and head straight down south till we hit the sea and then go east. Unfortunately, as most hills here run east to west it means that we had quite a few ups and downs, we were careful though not to over exert ourselves in the heat and took frequent rests.

In one of the villages we stopped for lunch and had an immediate friend:

We felt a  bit sorry for him as he was a very nice chappie but seemed lonely. he was very keen though to show us his skills on his bmx and his skateboard so we were well entertained.

After that it was just eating up the kilometers until we hit the campsite, had a thirst quencher with the owner and had a little rest before doing the usual chores.

Nice and tidy, isn’t it?
