Cape Town – Houtbay–Day11

2013.08.31

Houtbay

We tried in vain to get access to Mostert’s mill to have a look inside at the gears etc. to get inspiration for the model windmill I am building. In the end we had to be satisfied with a look from the outside.

Off to Houtbay for a long awaited fish and chips meal at The Wharf yum yum

and a visit to the market, a converted dockside warehouse with a very good vibe, Capetonians know how to enjoy themselves.

I got accompanied by a mime artist who copied my every move and gesture and the only way to get rid of him was to tip him generously.

Afterward we went to the Brocks for tea and a chat which ended up with supper and unfortunately when Nick took us home we got rear ended by a bakkie so there was the unwelcome excitement of reporting to police, getting insurance details etc. so that put a bit of a damper on what was otherwise a very pleasant day.
