At long last the adventure has begun, we are sitting in the departure lounge at the PE airport. First hiccup, the plane to Johannesburg has been delayed by an hour. Not to worry, that’s hopefully one hour less wait at the Johannesburg airport. I am in range of Wifi but not free and don’t feel like giving my credit card details so will post this at a later date.
I think at this time it is appropriate to say a big thank you to all the people who have been so kind to us and helped us a lot, Mariana for finding tenants for our house and flat, a big worry of our mind, Brian for kindly agreeing to look after our car for the duration, Serge for letting us park our trailer in his shed, Riana for looking after our precious Hawortias (note, not pellies, they have to look after themselves) and then also to Tertius, our tenant, to be so accommodating while moving and also for looking after our ageing feline.
Ellie got the bicycles and backpack nicely wrapped and the total weight was within limits so we either took too little or the lady was kind to us but we didn’t dare ask.
It was still quite a job this morning getting all the bits and pieces into the study, going to Telkom to suspend our telephone line, handing the keys to Mariana etc. etc. Nevertheless I got to Brian at exactly the agreed time after dropping Ellie at the airport with the luggage. Now it will be the tedious hurry and wait until we are in Amsterdam tomorrow.
