Erdevan-32

How much can one cram into one day? Quite a lot as we sit and reflect on the days happenings. We started with the usual packing up, quite difficult with the wet tent and also with having to fix Ellie’s pannier to the rack with a cable tie as somehow she lost the clip and just bas we were about to go the lady of the camp wanted a chat which was very nice of her. Thankfully the road was easier again and the scenery very nice and before we knew it we were in the town of Pont-Aven, a very pretty place and made famous by the French impressionist painter Paul Gaugain and another mad Dutchman called Vincent Van Gogh. We spent some time there snapping pretty pictures of the stream which runs through the town and used to power mills.

After Pont-Aven we again went through nice scenery, very wooded again with muddy estuaries and nice bridges and of course the various little towns clustered around their church and town hall. In one of these we had lunch and saw this sign which made us think of guess who.

Then we hit the big town of l’Orient which wasn’t very welcoming because I had three near-accidents in the space of ten minutes, none of them my fault of course. On the way in I spotted a  big sports shop and I managed to get a replacement for my fuel bottle. This time I took a one and a half liter one which looks quite big on the bike between my legs and you can guess the kind of remarks I had to endure from dear Ellie 😉 As usual the office of tourism was right in the center and they supplied us with some info but most of it we had to figure out ourselves. At least there was a MacD nearby so I could check mail and update a few days of blog.

At this stage it was getting quite late so we had to revise our goal for the day and look for something closer by. This was not that difficult because in the town of Erdeven where we ended up we had a choice of seven. I have a sneaky feeling that campings are a way of establishing trailer parks which guarantee quite a nice income. Even so, thanks to the easing of the terrain we did 86 kms today.

Supper – hutspot
