Zuid Beveland

First task today was putting all the new gear on the bike. I’m worried that the weight on the return trip will be excessive, nothing compared to what Ellie’s brother and sons usually load into containers.

They run an import/export business of second hand farm equipment and that can be quite a weighty matter.

Quite cold today, that is why we left rather late to get to Goes to sort out some banking issues and resolve a problem with the mudguard, excellent service (again) at both and after that we got to play at being tourists again. We visited a string of small dorps in Zuid Beveland before arriving at the Westerschelde, the busy waterway to Antwerp.

Here’s me at the dike, no, my finger is not in it.

And Ellie in her new coat. Rather orange don’t you think?

Every village still has two churches, one catholic, one protestant. They dominate the landscape at little less now with all the “green” windmills around and they are great landmarks.

Here is the one at ‘s Heerenhoek.

Tomorrow we pack and off to Zeeuws Vlaanderen to see the Goossens side of the family and see some more sights.
