Marie Louise had organized cheap train tickets for us, with these tickets you can travel anywhere in Holland on a weekend day. We chose Den Bosch as our destination because it is not too far away and is quite attractive with plenty of historic buildings. The locals do their best to make it interesting for tourists hence some people in uniforms doing their thing here too.
We got a nice map with descriptions at the local information office, the vvv, and walked one of the historic routes.
Here Arcene is admiring one of the modern sculptures in front of an old building which some youngster is using to sharpen his climbing skills.
Everywhere we looked people were sitting on the terraces like dassies in the sun, feeding their faces with plenty of food and drink. Where our tour ended in front of the cathedral we joined them for a lovely lunch served by an even lovelier waitress.
Here I am admiring one of the many beautiful stained glass windows inside the cathedral.
Outside the gargoyles were having fun sliding down the flying buttresses.
Soon it was time again to board the double decker intercity train back to Vlissingen. We can’t get over how much the trains have improved, they glide almost silently over the rails, inside you can have a normal conversation, quite unlike an airplane.
