Breskens

After yesterdays exertions we thought it prudent to have a quiet day so took it easy this morning and caught up on some blogging, I see that I screwed up and got the last two days in the wrong order, tough. Got ready at about 11 to cycle to Breskens and do some shopping there. It was cool in more ways than one to cycle along the Westerschelde again in a stiff breeze with quite a windchill factor. When we arrived the thermometer at the harbour showed 9 degrees.

We arbed around in the shopping centre getting used to the prices in euro and checked out some possible suppers on the way, looks like we will be well fed. We also practiced the hobo thing eating our lunch of rolls and cheese on a bench in the park, something we will do plenty of in the time to come. We then went to the camping shop with the sign on the window “Biggest in the region”. Well, it was also the most useless one and we came out with nothing.

The cycle back was most enjoyable, it generally is with the wind in the back and we even did a bit of a detour. Back home it was time to test the newly bought alcohol in the Trangia and were pleased it doesn’t burn the pots black and still had enough energy left to do the second most pleasurable thing – chopping wood.

Tonight fish, carrots and mash, yummie, and tomorrow a train trip through Holland.
